Privacy and security
Gridbox Pro is made by Wright Builds LLC in Minneapolis, Minnesota. This page covers the Gridbox Pro app and gridboxpro.com.
The short version
- You don't need an account to download, design or buy.
- Your photos, outlines and designs stay on your computer. Auto trace runs on an AI model inside the app, not in the cloud.
- The app has no analytics, tracking or crash reporting.
- The app goes online for three things: activating your license, checking it, and updates when you ask for them.
- We don't sell your information or share it for advertising.
What the app sends, and where
- Activating your license. When you enter a license key, the app sends the key and a label for your computer, such as "Gridbox Pro, MacIntel," to Lemon Squeezy, the company that sells Gridbox Pro for us. Lemon Squeezy answers with the name on the order.
- Checking your license. When you open the app, it checks the key with Lemon Squeezy again. If you're offline, it keeps working, and it checks the next time you're online.
- Your computer's hardware ID is used on your computer to lock the license record to it. It's never sent anywhere.
- After you buy in the app, it sends your order number and email to gridboxpro.com, which gets your license key from Lemon Squeezy and passes it back, so you don't have to copy it from your email.
- Updates. Only when you click Check for updates does the app ask GitHub, where the downloads live, for a newer version. GitHub sees that request like any download, including your IP address.
What stays on your computer
- Photos, outlines, designs, Saved bins, presets and settings are stored on your computer.
- Saved bins and .gridboxpro project files include the photo of your tools. If you send someone a project file, the photo goes with it.
- If you move your library to iCloud Drive or Dropbox, that service stores it under its own terms.
When you buy
Lemon Squeezy sells Gridbox Pro for us as the merchant of record. It collects your name, email, payment details, billing country and IP address to take the payment and charge the right sales tax, under its own privacy policy. Your card details go to Lemon Squeezy and never reach us. We receive your name, email, country and what you bought, so we can send your key and help with your purchase.
The website
- gridboxpro.com is hosted on Cloudflare, which keeps standard request logs, such as IP address, browser and the page asked for, to run and protect the site.
- The site's fonts come from Google Fonts, so your browser asks Google for them.
- The download buttons send you to the newest installer on GitHub, where the downloads live.
- The site counts visits and clicks with PostHog and Cloudflare Web Analytics. Neither uses cookies or stores anything in your browser, and neither follows you to other sites. They see the page you're on, the buttons you click, the videos you watch, how far you scroll, your browser and device type, your country and the site that sent you. PostHog uses your IP address only to tell one visitor from another and doesn't keep it. There are no ads.
- When you click a download button, gridboxpro.com counts the download: Mac or Windows, the page and button you used, and your country. It doesn't record who you are.
- When you click Buy, the page and button you bought from go to checkout with your order, so we know which parts of the site help people decide.
- If you answer "How did you hear about us?", your browser keeps the answer and passes it to checkout with your order.
- If you sign up for emails about sales and new versions, your email address goes to Loops, our email provider, which keeps our list and sends those emails. We also keep the date you signed up and that you said yes. Every email has a link to unsubscribe, and you can also email us to be taken off the list.
- If you ask us to email you the download link, your email address goes to Loops to send that one email, and it isn't added to our list.
Emailing us
When you email support, we keep the conversation so we can help you.
How long we keep things
We keep order records as long as tax law requires, and support emails as long as we need them to help you. You can ask us to delete anything we don't have to keep.
Your choices
Email gridboxprostudio@gmail.com to ask what we have about you, to correct it or to delete it, and we'll answer within 30 days. If you live somewhere with stronger privacy laws, such as the EU, the UK or California, you have those rights too, and we honor them.
Children
Gridbox Pro isn't made for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information.
Security
- There's no account, so there's no password database to leak.
- Your license record is signed and locked to your computer, so it can't be copied to another one.
- Updates are signed, and the app checks the signature before it installs one.
- Payments run through Lemon Squeezy, and card numbers never touch our servers.
- If you find a security problem, email gridboxprostudio@gmail.com.
Changes
If this changes, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
